Area cities — including Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Nolanville and Fort Cavazos — are implementing Stage 4 water restrictions beginning this week when massive 48-inch pipes carrying drinking water to the population are replaced with new, 54-inch pipes.
Beginning 6 p.m. Monday, the Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 will be initiating Stage 3 of its Drought Contingency Plan seeking a 30% reduction in water usage,” the water district announced. “The water use restriction could last up to 4 days while contractors make the connections and welds to the pipe.” Area cities say the Stage 4 restrictions will begin Tuesday.
In 2025, the City of Waco, Texas, has implemented a permanent water conservation plan with year-round watering restrictions. Residents and businesses are required to follow a 3-day watering schedule based on their address. Odd-numbered addresses water on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while even-numbered addresses water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. No outdoor watering is allowed on Fridays. Additionally, there are time restrictions, with no watering permitted between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
