David Gilmour Says He Has a New Album in the Works

David Gilmour says he's planning a new album using some of the material he wrote during sessions for his most recent solo album, 2015's Rattle That Lock.

Gilmour made the comments in a promotional video for his upcoming Live at Pompeii concert film, which was recorded during the Rattle That Lock Tour.

"I can't see myself doing another tour without making another album first," the former Pink Floyd guitarist says. "That takes me a while. It took 10 years last time. I'm really hoping that—without making any promises—that it won't take ten years this time, that I will get back in and start working again."

The good news is that some of the song ideas are nearly finished. So when Gilmour begins working again, he'll have a less daunting task in front of him.

Gilmour returned to Pompeii to perform for the concert film 44 years after Pink Floyd famously shot there. In an earlier video regarding how the event came together, Gilmour recalled he never thought he would get permission from the city to film with an audience.

The concert was the first time since the year 79AD that a crowd attended an event at the arena in Pompeii.

David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii will be screened on in select theaters on Sept. 13. It'll be available everywhere on Sept. 29. You can get tickets to a screening here.
