Eric Clapton Unveils Music Video for "For Love on Christmas Day"

Eric Clapton is giving fans another taste of his new holiday album, releasing a music video for his new song "For Love on Christmas Day."

The ballad appears on Clapton's Happy Xmas, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart when it was released in October.

The simple video features a headphone-wearing Clapton seated in front of a microphone with one of his signature Martin acoustic guitars on his lap. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer performs the tune as snow falls around him.

You can see the video above.

Clapton said in the EPK for Happy Xmas that he didn't begin recording with the intension of making a holiday album. He was simple writing songs until he had enough for an LP with "no real shape."

But as the songs came, the album began taking shape, "then it started to morph into a Christmas theme," he said.

The album also includes a house music-style version of "Jingle Bells," which Clapton says is in memory of 28-year-old Swedish DJ/producer Avicii, who died earlier this year from suicide

"I was inspired by Avicii," Clapton said. "[It's] terrible that he would die so young. ... That makes me worry about the current generation of musicians. They're gonna get swept away with different substances or lifestyles, with no real guidance."

A few weeks ago, Clapton shared a video for “White Christmas,” which you can watch below.
