Mick Jones Says He's Considering More Foreigner Reunions

Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones says everyone in the band today is getting along well and "thoughts are flowing" regarding a reunion tour with the original lineup.

The band's original lead singer Lou Gramm, as well as original members Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood, performed a three-song encore with Jones and company at a show in Wantagh, New York, in July.

The show marked the first time McDonald and Greenwood appeared with Foreigner since 1980. It was Gramm's first time onstage with his former band since 1993.

Regarding an extended reunion, Jones tells Billboard, "Oh it's definitely crossed my mind. I think it's something the fans would love. It'd be interesting, the contrast of the two styles of the bands. I think it would be appealing...the thoughts are flowing around. But I'm still not quite sure how to forecast it."

This fall, the surviving members of Foreigner's original lineup will get together in Michigan to film a session. Jones is excited for the occasion.

"Lou is good, and he's kept his voice," Jones says of the singer, with whom he reunited in 2013 at their Songwriters Hall of Fame induction. "Al and Ian are playing the same as they did 40 years ago, basically, and it's a hoot. It's great adrenaline and very enjoyable. I think there's no bad apple anywhere in the whole thing, so I can't see any big problems."
