Watch David Gilmour Perform 'Live at Pompeii'

David Gilmour has released a full-length live clip of his song "Rattle That Lock" recorded during the filming of his upcoming Live at Pompeii album and concert film.

The full-scale release is due out September 29. The film documents Gilmour's return to the ancient site decades after Pink Floyd performed there in 1972 (without a live audience, as noted by Ultimate Classic Rock).

"Rattle That Lock" is the title track of Gilmour's latest solo album. The legendary guitarist and songwriter says the Live at Pompeii show came together while he and his team plotted the tour in support of the Rattle That Lock album.

"...[We] were looking around and throwing suggestions around for places to play," Gilmour said. "The minute someone mooted the idea of playing Pompeii, I said 'Go for it Absolutely. You'll never get it.' I said, 'I don't think they'll let us do it. But give it a go.' They gave it a go, and we did it."

In the above clip, Gilmour recalls his first walk-through of the space. He says it brought back a flood of memories from the filming Pink Floyd did there so many years ago.

"It's amazing that we got anything as good sound-wise, sonically, out of it as we did at the time. Doing take and take again in the blazing hot sun. So going back this time, all sorts of memories, ghosts hanging around in that place. I had the time of my life. I thoroughly enjoyed it."

Live at Pompeii can be seen in select theaters one-night only on September 13. Get more information here. Pre-order the release here
